It is called 'dancing with the fireflies', and this is a method of creating sparkly and magical animations through different graphical tricks.There are several different objects you can use to create the fireflies animation. You can either start with a simple image or you can use the picture of any kind of insects. It's all up to you!The next step is to select a very dark or very light image. For example, if you will use a still life image, you can change the color using the contrast tool. You can select more than one image so that you can change the colors of the surface of the fireflies easily. Once you've done this, go over to Photoshop and apply the adjustment layer to it.When you go to play with the layer masks, make sure that you only have one layer with a white background. In order to work faster, use the quick filter and the ble nd mode to blend the two layers together. Save the image and get back to Photoshop. Use the effect layer to hide the layer that contains the image of the fireflies so that you can see the result.Select the color of the one color that you want to add to the background. Make sure that you use the eyedropper tool to pick out this color. Apply this selection to the bottom layer by right clicking on the selection and choosing Edit > Paste. Go to the effect layer and choose Layers > Define Layers from the menu. Once this window appears, choose the color that you will be using from the Colors tab.Use the eyedropper brush to add the color to the foreground. Go to the Foreground tab and choose a color that you will be using. Once you have done this, make sure that you're working on the same layer and that you've applied the effect layer to the top layer.The method here is to create a colored piece of paper and move the eye to the piece of paper with the dark object placed on the center of the page. Use the selection tool to add a very dark outline for the outline of the body of the firefly. Work on the other side and use the background color to blend the object into the color of the background. This should give you an abstract appearance that looks like a body has been placed in the middle of the page.Now, choose the Color tab and highlight the part of the paper that you just moved and then use the gradient filter to change the opacity of the selection to about 80%. Open the Gradient panel from the Effect menu and then go to the Brightness, Intensity and Chromaticity tab. Choose one of the colors from the light side and use the gradient filter to remove the dark side from the selected layer. Repeat the steps and apply the gradient to the darker color and the lighter color to create some really awesome animations!
